Our Grand Journey
Not all grandparents are rocking away in a rocking chair as often depicted in children’s books and society. The Grands Modern-Day Grandparent is a children’s book series that highlights grandparents outside of the one-dimensional character normally found in children’s books.
Suzette Perez-Tate
Meet Suzette Perez-Tate the creator and coauthor of The Grands Modern-Day Grandparent. Suzette Perez-Tate is a Modern-Day Grandparent herself and created the series based on her own experience as a Grand. She is focused on breaking the stereotype of the one-dimensional image and character of grandparents one story at a time. Suzette believes no one family is the same and no one grandparent is the same. It is important to Suzette to create an experience through her children’s books that provides inclusion and diversity, celebrating grandparents and their grandchildren where families can see themselves.
Anisa Delaluz
Anisa Delaluz is the co-author of the Grands Modern-day Grandparent Series. She graduated from Chapman University with a BA in Screenwriting and credits her grandmothers as inspiration for this series. She hopes, one day, to be a modern-day grand.
